Personal invitation re: SGPS Team of Cooks!

Friday, 23 June 2017

Hello .........

SGPS has a strong tradition of community support in time of need. Occasionally, exceptional circumstances arise within family life, and thanks to the generosity of our team of volunteer chefs, we have been able to offer a home cooked meal, as a gesture of our care and support.

There are several immediate needs happening, even this week, so we're "calling out" for meals and offering you the opportunity to join the team for 2017.

Past "cook-ups" have been always received with much gratitude. Some of our cooks have been able to contribute fortnightly or monthly, others just once or twice a term. One group of mum's who gathered together socially to cook for their families regularly, just made an extra meal between them . Whatever works for you will always be welcomed and appreciated.

A very basic pasta meal like spaghetti bolognaise or lasagne freezes well in a disposable foil tray, has been probably the most popular contribution.

Listing all ingredients on the lid is also appreciated.

Monster Raffle

Friday, 23 June 2017

I would like to encourage our school community to support our Parent Club by selling the Monster Raffle tickets that were sent home yesterday. As there will be no School Fair this year, this raffle is being used to raise much needed funds to support our school, particularly important curriculum areas such as English and Mathematics. Our School Fair normally raises approximately $8,000. For anyone quietly thinking, ‘Didn’t they just get $5.2m?’, please know that we do not actually receive any of this money and we still rely heavily on our fundraising efforts to provide important resources for our school.

For every $2 ticket sold, our school receives $1.50. We have sold the winning ticket of a new car twice in the last few years. Why not make it three!

Thanks in advance for your support.

Capital Works Project Update

Friday, 23 June 2017

A small but enthusiastic group of parents and grandparents attended a presentation on the proposed capital works project to take place at our school. It was nice to see everyone leave this meeting feeling positive about the opportunity that has been presented to our school and community. A 3D fly-through of the proposed works was shown at the meeting. I hope to share a link to this animation next week so that everyone can have a look.
