Respectful Relationship’s Launch Day

Friday, 10 November 2017

Next Friday the 17th of November is our Respectful Relationship’s Launch day and all parents, carers and special family members are invited to attend. We have special activities planned from 11:30am onwards, including a free sausage sizzle at 1pm for all children and visitors. Every child and adult will receive one sausage in bread for their lunch. If you feel this may not be enough to fill you up, please bring along something else to eat on the day. If you have special dietary requirements that we can provide instead, please let us know.

2018 Prep Information Evening

Friday, 10 November 2017

Thank you to the parents that attended the Parent Information Night for Prep children beginning school at Spring Gully PS in 2018. We were delighted to host about 40 parents last night. The aim of the evening was to provide information to parents that will assist in making their child's transition into school life as smooth as possible. Once again, we are all very keen to work with our parents to ensure the smoothest possible transition. Information was shared and gathered by our staff in preparation for 2018. If you were unable to attend this information evening, the Prep teachers will be keen to see you during the upcoming transition visits. Handouts from last night’s information session will be available from the school office.

YMCA Breakfast

Friday, 10 November 2017

The Bendigo YMCA will not be offering a Breakfast Program at Spring Gully Primary School next year. The YMCA has recently reviewed the scope of the Breakfast Program and has determined their primary objectives to be: 1. To ensure that they are supporting schools located in areas of the greatest need 2. To develop a partnership strategy with the schools they work with so that they can be actively working together to support the needs of the school community. In identifying the schools located in areas of greatest disadvantage, they have used data from a variety of different sources, including City of Greater Bendigo and the SEIFA index of Relative Socio-Economic Disadvantage. I’m sure everyone will appreciate that the YMCA have limited funds to deliver the program and are therefore directing resources based on a school meeting the criteria of need. I am extremely grateful for the wonderful support we have received from the YMCA during the last 6 years. Their staff have always terrific and our kids have benefitted enormously.

Camp and Excursions Thanks

Friday, 10 November 2017

Each year we try and provide our children with some fantastic learning opportunities through camps and excursions. These are not possible without the support of our dedicated staff and parent volunteers. We have had lots of camps and excursions recently and I thought it would be an appropriate time to thank everyone involved. Our Grade 2 and 4 children have both returned from overnight camps during the last week, with Grade 4 children returning yesterday. I’m pleased that both of these camps were incident free and all children thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Read more...
